A fragment of the old Weapon, mounted in Confederacy brass. In a fight it puts a pair of small craft up and puts them back when they die. The timing is the fragment's. The decisions are the captain's.
The Confederacy fought six years over the crater that held this fragment, and every house still claims the decisive charge.
