Brood-of-Nine Mesh
Nine eyes turn in different directions above Mesh’s frilled collar, and nine opinions are rarely far behind. The brood shares one body, but sharing a body has never obliged them to agree. Their home hive tolerated the noise for twelve years. Then an argument over a nursing chamber grew loud enough to interrupt a gathering of broodmothers, and the hive asked them, very politely, to leave.
Quiet Stitch was named during a rare moment of unanimity. The nine wanted a place where a disagreement could continue without being treated as a defect. They built their own routines around it: one voice may call for action, but another must explain what could go wrong before the rest commit.
Visitors sometimes find the discussion exhausting. Those who stay learn that Mesh remembers details a single observer might miss, and that an argument can be an act of care. Insult one member of the brood, however, and the others are perfectly capable of agreeing on a response.
