Witch-Captain Nyx
Nyx’s grin exposes rows of sharp teeth beneath eyes lit violet. People who meet her often assume the expression means she is fearless. In truth, she has studied fear for so long that she greets it like an old acquaintance.
Nightmare draws images from those aboard a nearby ship, giving their private terrors a shape they cannot easily dismiss. Some of the visions come from Nyx herself: memories she hoped to master by placing them outside her own mind. They have not become less troubling simply because others can see them.
She uses the ship’s strange talent to unsettle enemies and to discover what they may be hiding from themselves. The practice carries a cost. When a frightened opponent answers with panic, Nyx must live with what she has called into the encounter. She laughs readily, but the laughter sometimes arrives a moment too late to conceal what she has seen.
