Soulbinder Mortis Kell
Bone tags hang across Mortis Kell’s chest, each marked for a captain who came through his master’s chapel. The old soulbinder promised them proper funerals. When the master died, the obligation passed to Kell along with the chapel’s records and the means to fulfill it.
There are more names than he can easily carry and more journeys than he can complete in a lifetime, even one extended by Dominion practices. Tether-of-Names travels from wreck to wreck as Kell searches for remains, witnesses, or anything that will let him conduct a rite with care.
He keeps his spectacles on a chain and consults the records before making a promise. Kell has learned that a funeral performed for the wrong person can injure the living as well as dishonor the dead. If someone offers a correction, he listens. If someone hides a name for profit, his patience has a definite end.
