Tinker-General Brekky

Brekky’s brass bird perches on her shoulder while she works, occasionally drawing her attention to a loose fitting or an impatient visitor. She built it as a young mechanic, and its continued presence has become a running argument against anyone who claims her inventions are too delicate for service.

Aboard Automaton, she directs a larger family of steam-driven craft. Brekky remains on the bridge because the work requires her to see the whole situation and keep track of her creations as they move. She knows each one’s peculiar noises and expects the crew to report a new rattle before it becomes a lost machine.

Her enthusiasm can fill a room, particularly when someone asks a technical question. She is generous with apprentices and impatient with officers who dismiss their ideas without hearing them. Brekky takes the safety of her people seriously, even when her delighted grin suggests she is enjoying the experiment.
