Steamwright Holm
Holm’s enormous grin is familiar to anyone who has stood beside him in a hot engine room. He loves the moment a boiler reaches its working limit, when every pipe and fitting seems to speak at once and the crew must answer with practiced hands.
Pressure was built around that demanding rhythm. Holm learned his craft maintaining vessels whose owners prized speed but disliked paying for careful inspection. After one neglected boiler failed, he resolved never to command a ship whose machinery he did not understand personally.
He brings Pressure close when its boilers are working hard because he trusts the crew that tends them and knows what the vessel can endure. That trust is earned through constant attention, not wishful thinking. Holm enjoys frightening an opponent with his enthusiasm, but his engineers know he will stop to listen if a valve sounds wrong.
