Regent Hrolf Wend
Hrolf Wend accepted a regency thirty years ago, expecting to hand the house to its heir when the child came of age. The heir never reached that day. The charter contains elaborate instructions for a transfer that cannot happen and no clear instruction for what should follow.
Hrolf has kept the house functioning while lawyers, relatives, and guild representatives argue over the omission. Held In Trust carries the records of those debates, along with the funds and obligations he refuses to treat as his personal property. He has turned away opportunities to enrich himself, although that restraint has not ended suspicion.
His white hair and tired face have become familiar to a generation that has known no other regent. Hrolf would welcome a lawful settlement, even one that removes him, provided it protects the people dependent on the house. Until then, he continues to hold what he was given for someone who will never claim it.
